Frequently asked questions

A few things people ask before they start browsing. If you want the longer version, it’s on About, Privacy, and Contact.

What is InclusiReads?

A curated catalog of inclusive books, from picture books through adult. We organize titles by topic and audience, write short curator notes, and link out to Bookshop.org and Amazon. We do not sell books ourselves or process payments.

Who is the site for?

Adults choosing books: parents, caregivers, teachers, librarians, and teen or adult readers shopping for themselves. The catalog includes children's books. The website is not a destination for young children to browse alone.

How do you choose books?

We list a title when the work helps a reader find someone like them, or meet someone new, without treating identity as a lesson plan. We look at who is centered, how they are treated, and whether the book is useful at home or in a classroom. Affiliate commissions do not decide which books appear.

What do the topic tags mean?

Tags such as disability, LGBTQ+, Latine, or immigration describe what the book is about, or who appears in it. They are a finding aid, not a claim about the author, and not a guarantee of quality. We do not use an Own Voices badge.

Do you guess an author's identity?

No. We do not infer race, disability, sexuality, gender, faith, or migration history from a name, photo, cover, or narrative voice. If a page mentions identity, it comes from public self-identification or publisher materials they approved.

Why are some curator notes similar?

A few flagship titles have hand-tuned notes. Other notes follow tag-based defaults so every page still has a why, who it's for, a prompt, and a try-this. Publisher cover copy is usually from the publisher. Notes start a conversation. They are not a review.

How do age and audience filters work?

Audience follows the book's format: board, picture, middle grade, young adult, adult. Age bands are a finer filter on Browse. Labels are not a guess about who you are.

Do you sell the books?

No. Buy buttons go to Bookshop.org and Amazon. Purchases happen on those sites under their terms. We may earn a commission from qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you.

What is the basket?

A list stored only in your browser (localStorage). You can add a guide shelf, share a link, or check out via Bookshop. Clearing site data clears the basket. We do not have user accounts.

How do I subscribe or unsubscribe?

The footer form stores your email in our Cloudflare database and sends a confirmation from hello@inclusireads.com. Every email includes unsubscribe. We do not sell your address.

Why do I see a cookie notice?

Ads use cookies. Accept the notice if you want ads. Dismiss it if you prefer no ad cookies. The rest of the catalog works either way. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

How do I request a correction?

Email hello@inclusireads.com if a tag is wrong, a note is misleading, or we have shown identity we should not have. Include the book title and the URL. We will correct the listing.
